People used to talk about someone having a “good hand.” It was a compliment on their penmanship. Despite the onset of computer technology, the need for a good hand has not gone away. Not only do we still have plenty of occasions to write by hand, but research continues to show that writing by hand helps in knowledge retention and writing ability.
