"The readings are a rich collection
from both classical and Christian authors. The explanations are
thorough, easy to understand, and appealing."

"I tried to do Wheelock, but frankly it just
overwhelmed me. I am now doing Henle (with Cheryl's outline)
and am finding it much more doable. For what it's worth..."
- Carol, parent
"I recommend Henle, hands down. Wheelock
(which I also have and tried to use to teach myself) is much more
overwhelming. Henle keeps the vocabulary low so you can really
concentrate on the grammar, which I think is brilliant; Wheelock
piles on the vocabulary without lightening up on the grammar.
Henle also provides more practice. And, finally, after LC, Henle is perfect because much of the vocabulary will be familiar already;
the transition to Henle is easier than the transition to Wheelock
would be. My kids and I are using Henle with no difficulties (and
the Henle Latin list is very helpful for our rare questions) and
enjoying the process."

"Personally, I love Henle. If it were
me, I would consider using it for the 8th grader using Cheryl Lowe's
study guide. She takes it real slow and adds a few things that
are helpful, like when and how to make flashcards and study them,
recording derivatives, etc. Latin finally makes sense to me after
studying even just a little from this text. I have to add a disclaimer
though :) I have only been really doing the Latin thing for about
a year. We made several false starts before that and have tried
several curriculums along the way before we actually made any
real progress, which came for me when I started using Henle....
I am so not an expert, but I think Henle is the best."
