The purpose of precalculus is to both revisit complex algebraic topics and introduce several advanced topics in analytical geometry to prepare the student for calculus. To this end we recommend the seventh edition of Larson and Hostetler’s precalculus textbook. Having completed this text, you can claim a full-year high school math credit for precalculus, and your student will be ready to complete AP Calculus AB (if desired).
