Sample Lesson Plan: Level C

The developmental foundation of a classical education is the cultivation of wonder and an appreciation for language. The lessons in this level encourage wonder through and early love of language, numbers, and books.

All of the books, prayers, and songs included in this level can help you nurture your child's imagination, provide shared moments, initiate satisfying conversations, and strengthen your child's faith. Along with the activities presented here, enjoy nature walks with him, play in water, sand, and mud; relax outside and indoors; and spend plenty of time at playgrounds, in backyards or swimming pools, and with balls and pedal toys to help strengthen his body and give him self-control over his movements.

This Curriculum Manual is made to be used in conjunction with Simply Classical Curriculum: Level C.

Alphabet Book Part One Sample

Alphabet Book Part One comes full of activities, created with the younger student in mind, making learning each letter of the alphabet simple and fun. Three-letter words, aided by beautiful illustrations, also provide a simple introduction to phonics.

Alphabet Book Part Two Sample

Continue in the fun of learning with Alphabet Book 2. This book will pick up where Part One leaves off and continue teaching your child their letters, the formations, and how to write them. This book also provides initial and ending sounds for beginner words.

Developed by request, My Very First Scissors Book (Book 1) and My Very Own Scissors Book (Book 2) help prepare your child for the crafts in Memoria Press' Jr. Kindergarten Curriculum, and for skills he or she will need in kindergarten and beyond. Both books feature perforated pages and large "cutting boxes" to promote the child's success. Either book can serve as a stand-alone introduction for any student who needs practice with scissors.

Simply Classical Crafts Book Two Sample

The creative arts are an essential part of the primary school education. By using the activities in this book, you can reinforce number and letter recognition, strengthen fine-motor skills, and foster creativity and confidence.

Classical Phonics is a deceptively simple little book our teachers and families use constantly in both kindergarten and first grade. It consists of phonetically arranged word lists for students to practice their growing phonics skills. In a word list there are no context clues, so the learner must rely on his mastery of letter sounds. For instance, if your child can pronounce each word in this list correctly—pot, pat, pit, put, pet—he knows his short vowel sounds, and you can move on to long vowels! If not, he needs more practice, and Classical Phonics is the most effective tool we know of to address the repetition that young ones need when learning to read. Classical Phonics can be used as a supplement to any phonics program, and covers nearly all English phonograms and sounds taught through second grade.
