Students should be able to read these books independently. The discussion questions will aid the teacher in talking with the students about what they have read. Our intention is that these books will be read and enjoyed by young students beginning their journey through American history.

The Fifth Grade American History Discussion Questions for our Supplemental Reading Set features teaching guidelines and discussion questions for each of the novels and biographies found in our Fifth Grade American/Modern Studies Supplemental Reading Set.
We focus on geography in grades 3-6 in our Classical Core Curriculum because it is beneficial for students to know where the historical events they study take place in the context of each other. But we realize that the grammar school years are a great time to introduce American history too. So we offer four sets of American biographies and novels as a supplement to our 3rd through 6th grade Classical Core Curriculum packages.
