Description:
This Latin supplement is an excellent Christian Latin reading
and translation course. Christian Latin should always be
the first step in learning to translate Latin literature
because it has shorter, simpler sentences and clearer word
structure than classical authors. Just like you wouldn't
study calculus before you learn algebra, you shouldn't approach
Caesar, Cicero, or Virgil before you conquer Christian Latin.
The student workbook provides facing vocabulary, space for
interlinear translation, and grammar word study exercises,
and a CD and songbook are also utilized. The online classroom
for this course will feature in-class translation work,
review of vocabulary, an incorporation of the music audio
files, and 5-10 minutes of a beginner's look at the music
history involved in the hymns. Studying music history can
give students a soundtrack to which students can organize
and enhance their concept of history. When studying the Middle
Ages, for example, students will know what the music of
the time sounded like. By utilizing the latest technology,
this class will be interactive, with ways to learn on a
visual as well as aural level.
