Prerequisites: Completion of two years
of high school English

Hamlet, The Taming of the Shrew, The
Merchant of Venice, and Much Ado About Nothing
(not included in price of the course)
Content Covered: An in-depth study of five
Shakespeare plays: one history, one tragedy, and three comedies.
Harold Bloom has remarked that Shakespeare "invented"
the modern personality, and that his writings make up the
greatest part of the Western canon. His cast of characters
is indeed a who's who of the human stage. A familiarity
with Shakespeare is essential for an understanding of Western
literature and culture.
