Description: A two-semester course covering units 1-5 of Latin:
First Year, by Robert J. Henle ("Henle Latin").
This course is a more accelerated course than the Latina I
or MS Henle I program, but is well-suited for the student
beginning Latin in grades 9 and up. The first semester of
a two-semester course.
Suggested Age: Grades 8 and up .
Required Course Texts: Latin: First Year, and Grammar by Robert J. Henle; Henle
Guide I (for units I-II) and Henle
Guide II (for units III-V), by Cheryl Lowe & Martin
Cothran. (not included in price of the course)
Prerequisites: Prior coursework in Latin is recommended
for students 7th grade or younger. High school students do
not need any previous Latin experience.
Content Covered: Units 1-5 of Henle I. Coverage
of five noun and two adjective declensions with a stress on
the understanding of the five main grammatical cases. Also
covers present, imperfect, and future tense of all four verb
conjugations in the active indicative. Short readings on Christian
and Roman history will also be presented.
Class Chat Times: Monday, 10:00am EST or,
Monday, 2:00 p.m. EST, or Tuesday, 5:30pm, or Thurs, 5:30pm
