Unhappy Four principle parts of a verb

We are learning how to handle the four principle parts of a verb. In other books the parts are: o, are, avi, tum. In First Form they are listed as: o, are, avi, tus. Why is there a difference in the passive participle from one curriculum to another?

Hello.

Since the 4th principal part is an adjective, some Latin programs put it in the neuter and some put it in the masculine. The older programs generally show the 4th principal part as neuter, but the tendency for newer programs is to give the masculine.

I hope this clears things up for you.

Regards,

Tanya
