In the fall, I will have an advanced 2nd grader, average 1st grader, and an almost 5 year old beginning kindergarten early (just planning to take our time, but he is ready to begin). My question is this: which level do I start with which children? do I do them all at the same level or combine the two younger and do a different level with the 2nd grader? I had been planning on using Shurley grammar and the Institute for Excellence in writing, but now I am wondering if that would be too much. Help! I am so overwhelmed by all of the options!

I would start with PL. YOu can have the older one do the writing but the younger can just do the vocabulary and memory work. As your older moves along the younger will learn a great deal too. In another year your second can do the writing as part of their 'penmenship' since he/she will already know the vocab.
Just my opinion, Gail in CNY |

We are just starting PL and the 8 and 6 year old love it.......the 5 year old hangs out and is picking it up as well. Of course we calll him Parrot Boy for that reason......just wish he'd pick up the math as easily.
