Default Poetry book in 3rd grade package

Can you tell me more about the "Poetry for 3-6th Grade" set that appears in the third grade package? I'm interested in it, and have heard a positive review, but I can't seem to find a sample or any details about it.

I am attaching the first lesson as a sample. We are still working on expanding this volume, so it is still in Beta format.
This book functions as a reference and study guide for other parts of the curriculum. For example, the 3rd grade Astronomy book refers to the poem that I included in the sample as optional if you want to do a more in depth study of the poem. However, the book can be used as a standalone book to expose young students to poetry.

I hope I answered your curiosities, but if I didn't, ask again!

Paul

Does the book include a schedule, or do you need the grade-level teacher guides to schedule it? Can you start in the middle? (I'm planning to get the 3rd & 5th grade packages this year, so my eldest would be starting in the middle of the book.)

Thank you! That was very helpful for getting a better picture of this course.

I have one more question. Do the students just work with good poetry, or will they also receive instruction in writing their own with this book?

There is no schedule in the book as there are not a lot of poems for each grade and they are scheduled when they correspond to something else in the curriculum (like in the example of Astronomy).

You can jump in in the middle, but I would suggest just starting from the beginning, maybe fast-forwarding to a specific poem if it pertains to what the student is currently studying.

The students receive no instruction on how to write a poem--this book is mainly an analysis of the poems studied.

Regards,
Paul

Default Poems for 5th Grade

Paul, I don't have the poetry guide as this is the first year we're doing the curriculum package. But I would like to have my son memorize the poems that correspond to his literature guides. I saw a list of some of the poems on another thread, and now that I have the literature guides for 5th grade, I see "Time, You Old Gypsy Man" and "The Bare-footed Friar" in the guides. I'm guessing "The Lady of Shallot" by Tennyson goes with King Arthur, but I didn't see it listed in the literature guide. I found it on the Internet -- it is 19 stanzas, separated into 4 parts. Does your guide include the entire poem? Thanks for your help!

Yes, our poetry guide does include all 19 stanzas of "The Lady of Shallot".

The mythology flashcards are our 100 drill questions in the back of the study guide. The front side is the question, and the answer is on the back.
