Default Latin Christiana 2 or First Form Latin?

We completed Prima Latina in 3rd grade and are halfway through Latin Christiana 1 in 4th grade. I'm looking ahead at 5th grade and wondering if we should go with LC 2 or First Form? I was given a teacher's guide for LC 2, so I'm tempted to go that route, but I've heard that First Form is the better of the two. I have never taken Latin, so the easier it is to teach, the better. Also, if I do go with LC 2, what would we use the following year? Thanks for any advice you can give.

Hello.

We do like First Form better because it teaches the material in an order that students understand better than they do in LCII. I have found that many people hit a wall in the middle of LCII that they don't hit with FF. After years of teaching Latin in the classroom, we figured out how to present the material so that it is easiest for the students to understand and retain. The result of that experience is FF.

But if you like the looks of LCII, many people are still using it, so we will continue to support it. And if you decide to go with LCII, if your student gets through it with a good understanding of the grammar, you can move from there into Second Form. You would just have to do a bridge unit (which we would give you) that teaches the 3 verb tenses taught in FF that are not covered in LCII.

Regards,

Tanya
