Default Traditional Logic - Kreeft books

I will be getting Traditional Logic for my 9th grade son. My first thought was to do each book in one semester. However, when reading the descriptions on the logic page, I saw the two books by Kreeft were recommended to go along with the logic course. Are there any recommendations for integrating these two books (Handbook of Christian Apologetics and Socrates Meets Jesus) into the Logic study or is there any sort of study guide to go with them? I'm also trying to nail down what we will do for Christian Studies this year, so this might be helpful.

Thanks!
Samantha

Samantha,

Thank you for the post. I would not integrate the Kreeft books until you start Logic 2. You can definitely get done with the Logic 1 book in 11 weeks, leaving yourself more time to focus on the advanced logic you'll find in the Logic 2 book. This way, you can also allow for more time to read the Kreeft books in the remainder of the school year. Some of the same issues that are included in the case studies of Logic 2 are covered in more depth in the Kreeft books.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Scott. Any specific recommendations for integrating them? Is one better than the other to do first?

I'm thinking, then, that we should do Trad. Logic 1 in the first semester. Then begin Trad. Logic 2 when we finish and continue into the second semester. I will need to choose something for Religion for first semester, but then we can use the two Kreeft books for Religion for the second semester and they will tie into our Logic at that point. Does that sound about right?
