Default Putting together a complete program for high school

I have a son who will begin 9th grade in the Fall and I am trying to put together a plan for his high school education that is classical and that will satisfy the requirements to enter college. So many of the courses offered in a classical education don't fit the typical 4 credits of English, 3 math, 3 science, 3 history or whatever the state graduation requirements might be. Our state doesn't have any requirements that they force upon homeschoolers, so I have plenty of latitude here. I want him to have a rich education. I don't want to overburden him at any point with too much work. And I want him to be able to go to whichever college he feels drawn when it is time. I'm not finding a lot of guidance on the college websites that I've visited. They're pretty vague, actually. So how do I pull together the right courses to make a rich and complete high school education? I was tempted to go with a classical academy that is available to homeschoolers, but I like what MP offers so much better. Help! I need a guidance counselor! LOL

Hello,

Sounds like you live in a great state! Have you taken a look at the Memoria Press Online Classical Academy? We have a suggested sequence posted in PDF that you might like to take a look at. Just:

1. Go to www.memoriapress.com/onlineschool
2. Click on "Suggested sequence" in the blue toolbar to the left.
3. If your 9th grader has had no Latin, ignore the suggested sequence and start with High School Latin 1.

Hopefully this will help you a bit. Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions.
