Default History Plan for High School?

If there is one in place, would you please share what it is/will be? Also, can the 7th and 8th grade lit and history courses count for high school credits? I was thinking of using both grades and counting each (lit and history) as one credit/course.

Hello.

Our literature and history courses for 7th-8th grades can definitely count as high school credits. We are the only school I know of that reads Homer and Vergil in middle school. In fact, I didn't read Homer until college, and I never read Vergil. Our middle school literature is also high school level reading.

Our high school history looks like this:

9th - Greek tragedies
10th - Plato, Aristotle, Cicero
11th - Classical Metaphysics
12th - Art history

Our students also have AP American history in 10th grade (using A Concise History of the American Republic) and 2 years of world history in 11th-12th grades (using A History of the Modern World).

We are starting to work on classical history guides for high school, but I can't imagine that they will be ready until fall 2013.

Regards,

Tanya

Thank you for relieving me of a significant amount of stress. My plan then of having my oldest use MP 7th as high school 9th will be okay then?

Absolutely! How many 7th graders in schools actually read things this difficult?

Relax and enjoy!

By the way, we are at the top of the waiting list for the Woodlands. We just need 1 vendor to cancel ...

Cheers,

Tanya
