Default Concurrent Rhetoric and Logic

I have a 12th grader next year who has never taken a formal logic course but has a fascination with the subject. I would like him to take the Rhetoric course next year and was thinking that maybe he could do a Logic course concurrently (and also then benefit from the Logic review questions. Is this doable, and which course would you recommend?

Thanks!

Whether it is doable or not really depends on how many other subjects he is taking. If he doesn't have a lot of other courses, he should be able to assimilate both materials just fine.

We would recommend the Traditional Logic program--and as a senior he is capable of doing Traditional Logic I in the first semester then TL II in the second semester.

Default Why -

Traditional Logic I and II, and not Material Logic? Can you explain the sequencing here, and how they differ and overlap?

Thanks!

Martin Cothran tells me that if you only have time for 1 logic course, Traditional Logic is the one to do. If you only have time for 2 courses, he recommends doing TL followed by Rhetoric. If you don't have time to do all the books, Material Logic is the one he would drop.

Regards,

Tanya
