I hope it is all right to post this question on the MP forum. Has anyone's child taken the SAT Subject Test in Latin? If so, did the student use Henle, and how far into Henle had he studied when he took the test? Did he do any work outside Henle? My son will have done Henle I, II, III, and part of Henle IV by the time he takes the exam but possibly will not have finished IV. So, I'm trying to gauge how well prepared he will be. We still have time to supplement. I'd be very grateful for any feedback, suggestions, etc.

Bonnie,
Our students do not take the SAT Subject Test in Latin, so we do not have any materials specifically for that test. However, Henle is an excellent course that requires students to master the Latin grammar and includes much translation, so I imagine your son will be well prepared. The CollegeBoard does say, "this test reflects what is commonly taught in high school. Due to differences in high school classes, it’s likely that most students will find questions on topics they’re not familiar with." Some courses (not Henle) focus on translation at the expense of mastery and grammar, and this test may reflect that leaning. I would have your son look at the sample questions and resources on the CollegeBoard site to get an idea of what the test expects and how he might do on it. As for whether or not he needs to finish Henle IV, those sample questions will show you what topics from Henle IV he will need to know before the test. He may be able to jump to specific lessons in Henle IV if there is not time to complete the book. I hope this answers your questions. Let me know if you have any more, and good luck to your son!
