Talking FSR - D - Teacher's Guide

I came across FSR earlier this year and purchased for my 2 budding readers (aged 4 & 6 at the time). They did great together through most of the first book and then the younger one started having a harder time keeping up, so I started working them independently of one another. When I purchased the set there was only the 3 books (A-C). Honestly I originally purchased as a supplement to the phonics program I was using, as the two programs taught phonics in a similar manner, but FSR has become our primary phonics program now because these two kiddos are real good with seat work. However, the older was getting bored with the readers I have and so after reading another post on this forum I sat down with him to read Little Bear and give him the sample pages to the Literature Guide, and was I ever shocked! He wants to continue the workbook pages with Little Bear.

So here's my questions: Should I do book D with him or just finish up C and move him on to Storytime Treasures? Do I need to order a new Teacher's Guide for Book D or can I wing it without it? He is behind where he should be so I'd like to fast-track him as much as possible where I can, to get him caught up, while keeping the little guy working at a Kindergarten pace as long as we can.

I'm also wondering . . . if we already have books A-C and the teacher guide, how can we just purchase book D with the new teacher guide? It looks like the books are only bundled as a group now for A-D and two teacher guides.

To your second post: I would call the office and ask about purchasing separately.

To your first post: this is what I did with my 8 and 7 year old. If he is ready to move on, move on. Motivation is half the battle.

Also, I had a pre-beta version of D without a TM. I was so glad to get the TM when it was released. It isn't that difficult but I need all the handholding I can get.

HTH!

Hello.

Anyone who purchased FSR Books A-C can call us and get Book D and the Teacher Guide. It completes the set, so we will give it to you so that you can complete the program. If you have your original order number, that would help us, but it isn't necessary. We can look you up without it.

As for moving on to Little Bear, if your child can read the books in StoryTime to you pretty fluently, you are ready for StoryTime. You could work through Book D quickly if you want to be sure that your child has mastered long vowels. Our students do SRA2 alongside StoryTime in 1st grade because we want to continue their phonics work through 2nd grade, but you could start with Book D as your supplement.

Regards,

Tanya

Is it possible to buy the FSR A-D books in the future without the teacher guides for additional children in a family? I only see the set sold with teacher guides. I see a consummable book set for $80 for kindergarten, but that seems to include math and all the other workbooks.

Smile Purchasing books

I purchased the original set with the TG & 3 workbooks through another retailer, but then I did order just the (3) workbooks without the Teacher's Guide through MP after looking them over and deciding to have both children work through them. Therefore I am sure that you could call and order just the workbooks without the guide for the 4 workbook set.

Thanks for the info ladies!

I had this question as well. I bought FSR Teacher's Guide and workbooks A-C from a vendor at a HS conference this past weekend. Very happy to know I can purchase book D and teacher's guide separately.

Wink Just the workbooks online purchase

Here's the link to purchase just the workbooks A-D. The link is on the far right side of the page. There's a box that says, "How to Buy." It has both the set with the Teacher's Guide and without.

Ya'll know you can call MP and get Book D plus the TM for free, right? If you purchased FSR A-C, it was still beta. D finishes the set. (see Tanya's post above in position #4)
