Default Henle or Latina Christiana 2 for a 12th grader

Hi, I'm new here and trying to make a decision about my dd's last year of Latin. She has taken Latina Christiana 1. Which of the above programs would be the best use of her senior year? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Sonya

Default My opinion

Sonya,

I think she should use Latina Christiana II for her senior year, especially if it has taken your daughter a year to finish Latina Christiana I. By the time she finishes Latina Christiana I and II, she will have learned almost as much as she would have if she completed the first two units of Henle I (which is what Memoria Press recommends for the first year of Henle--see http://www.memoriapress.com/articles/outline.html). Moving to Henle I without having completed both books of Latina Christiana might be a little risky for someone who does not have a Latin background. Besides, Latina Christiana II will be much more enjoyable for her.

Hope this helps,
Maria

Default Henle I or Latina II

Sonya,

The only thing I would add to Maria's response is this: the older the child, the more likely we are to recommend they move from Latina I to Henle. If your child finishes Latina I and is only in 6th grade, we would normally recommend Latina II. However, if the child is in a high school grade, you might think about moving to Henle.

Thanks for your interest in our programs.
