Fallacy Detective and Thinking Toolbox

These are both by the Bluedorns and are excellent for teaching how to spot faulty logic. We do them together as a read aloud, and my younger children and have learned so much.
These are not puzzles...

I think she'd do very well in LC1...

Considering how much exposure she's had to Latin already.

PL is basically the same vocab as she will encounter in LC1 (with more words added), but there is more grammar, which is sounds like she...

Derivatives puzzle 10-11 from Ludere Latine 2

This is not a correction, but a suggestion when it gets revised.

We are just on Lesson 11 of LC2, and my children were trying to do the accompanying Ludere Latine 2 puzzle on pp 58-59. I say...

Have you tried Ludere Latine 2?

I agree that it would be nice to have more exercises to go with LC2, but I find when my children use the Ludere (Games) alongside, they really learn alot and retain much more. They are called Games,...

LC2 is much harder than LC 1!

We were amazed at how much more challenging LC2 is. We are taking LC2 much, much slower (probably over 2 years) than we did LC1.
I already bought the Henle book to do in the next few years , and...

Yes, I know

I know that Ludere 2 corresponds to LC 2, but we are still in the early chapters which are only reviews of LC1. We haven't even gotten to the new material yet.

still confused

I just looked back in LC 1. I found meus, a, um introduced in Lesson 17 and then the declension of first person pronouns introduced in Lesson 24. But I don't see anywhere in my Teacher's Manual the...

Thank you

Yes, that does help.

Was that in LC 1? I guess I don't remember doing that with my children at all!

Can someone explain this for me?

In Ludere Latine 2, in the grammar puzzle for lesson 5, the clue is

"my (f. dat. sing)" and the answer in the back of the book is "meae". Can someone please explain why this is so?

From our...

Smile Take a deep breath, it will be okay

First of all, welcome to homeschooling. In no way have you "screwed up" your children's educations, in fact, you are doing the best thing possible by homeschooling.
Abeka and Classical are both...

The songs are listed in LC1

That doesn't help you much, I know, unless you have different children doing both levels (that's what I had last year).

Maybe they can be included in Prima when it's revised, or it could be linked...

I hope someone with more knowledge (and older children- my oldest is 11) posts an answer for you.

I think all the preparation of "how to think", which is really what classical education teaches,...

Smile Writing

Hi Laurie- I don't know what they use at Highlands, but I can tell you I feel the same way as you about Classical Writing. It just didn't work for our family.
We are using another program now with...

I thought it might be "vir", just knowing it from my own Latin study years ago, but we can't find "vir" anywhere in LC 1.

Ludere Latine 2 Transformer puzzle lesson 4

For the second puzzle, "viros" is one of the choices. Neither my children nor I recall having seen this word before. Is this a typo? Should it be "virgos"?

Red face apology

I apologize if it sounded like I was knocking Book of Roots. It really is a fine book, and I do plan to use it when the children get older.
This is just my opinion, obviously, that the book is too...

LOL over your post!

Hi Caroline- So much of homeschooling is like that, I have found. We worry over what turns out to be nothing. God always takes care of daily aspects.

My 2yo does the same thing as yours. It's...

Make your own Latin Bingo game

This idea was so good that I had to share it! :)

I found it on the website of Paula Hasseler, the author of Vocabulary Vine, which is a Greek/Latin word roots program that we use.

Here are...

I agree with Pam's reply

I just wanted to add that in addition to using a latin centered approach to consolidate subjects, you can concentrate on the children really mastering the fewer subjects that they do study.
It also...

I totally agree with you that Book of Roots is much too advanced for this age. My 11 yo and 9 yo daughters completed LC 1 this past school year, and we were going to do Book of Roots this year, but...

Any Art History Plans for MP?

I would love MP to come out with a God-honoring Art History Curriculum. It is so hard to find a book that is wholesome for the whole family. I'm sure many others would be interested in this.
