Tanya,
How many days a week am I to use First Start Reading lessons? There are enough to do 3 lessons a week. Or or we suppose to focus on 1 lesson a week? I realize that it is supposed to be used in accord with SRA phonics and the Animal Book, but I am not using those. So, how many days a week do you recommend using the First Start Phonics?
Also, I have the comb bound versions. Are you planning on sending out the completed versions if requested; or do we need to purchase those?

Thank you.
Bridget

Bridget,

It's difficult for me to say because our lesson plans have so much supplemental material in them that we are using alongside FSR. But it generally looks like we are doing 3-4 lessons per week. On days when the students are reading one of the little readers and doing an SRA worksheet, they may not do anything in FSR. But we are doing phonics lessons every day in some format or other. That is the essential part of our kindergarten program, alongside math and penmanship.

I do have the final FSR books in-house. Email me with your address, and I'll be glad to send them to you. They are really pretty!

Cheers,

Tanya

Tanya,
Do they complete the entire FSR in the K year then?
Thank you.

Bridget,

The students complete FSR in the spring of their kindergarten years. Then, they finish up the year reading in the little readers and doing long vowels, some blends, etc. in SRA 1.

Cheers,
