In the Grammar section, number 6 refers to applying the "masculine endings rule". What is that rule? It is clear what the "natural gender rule" is for this lesson, but where is this masculine endings rule mentioned?

Hello.

This is strange because this question is in my book for lesson 18, not 17. But, the Masculine Endings rule is in lesson 18 in the teacher notes of the teacher manual (p. 84 in my guide). Do you think you have an older version that maybe doesn't have this rule in it?

Just in case, the rule is: 3rd Decl. Gender Rule #2: Most words that have these endings are masculine - or, oris tor, toris

I hope this helps.

woops, it IS XVIII, 18. THANK YOU! There it is on the next page. We were at it again this morning and I didn't see it there.
I have another question. Same grammar area...number 7 c. Decline "miles" what declension is this? I assume it's 3rd since the lesson all about that, but we just aren't sure. Do you know? This sure is a tough section. Thanks again, Kathy

Kathy,

This is a tough section - third declension is a bear! When you make it through this, 4th-5th declensions are a breeze!

Miles, militis is 3rd declension masculine. You are right!

Let me know if you need additional help. I'll be glad to help you through this.

Cheers,

Tanya
