Jennifer J. has posted extra worksheets for LC1. Could someone help with a question, please?

The sentence for translation reads: in oppido ludum spectant
The answer reads: They are looking at the school in the town

Why is "sunt" not used in the sentence and how do you determine "looking"

I translated: They look at the school in the town.

I also have a few questions from sentences my students are creating. Should I post those here, or is there a better place on the forum to get help?

Thanks for any help,

Andrea

Hi Andrea,
Sunt is mostly used in sentences without verbs.Verbs have three forms in present tense, so spectrant could be translated to They look,They are looking, or They do look. That's why sunt isn't in there. Hope this helps.
