Do you think it is necessary to have a 7th grader who is doing First Form Latin to also do a vocabulary curriculum like Classical Roots?

I really don't. My children never had a roots course, but they certainly have a good understanding of derivatives, and my oldest son made a 34 or 35 on the verbal portion of the ACT (and this is not a motivated child - he is educated in spite of himself!). He did have Latin from 4th-12th grades though. I suppose if you have a child who is really interested in language, s/he would enjoy a separate roots course, but if you are going to do some serious Latin during the school years, that language study will take care of roots for you.
