I'm planning to purchase Prima Latina to add to my six year-old son's homeschool curricula. I'm trying to decide whether to invest in the DVDs or not. My English and grammar skills are very good, and I took French from junior high through a semester of college. I have a good ear and very good French pronunciation (so I'm told! :) ). My experience with Latin is limited to the Tridentine Mass and Latin Missal.

My son learned to read with the EyeQ Phonics program, which included CDs, and he liked them. Later I added DVDs of "The Electric Company" which he just loves.

Between the two of us, are we likely to succeed with just the CDs or should we try the DVDs?

Thanks!

Lori

We preferred just the printed materials.

We just used the CD and the books and that was fine for us.

You'll likely do well with whichever you select, so the decision can be based on other factors. I didn't have a *feel* for how to teach the material, so the dvds were a good fit for us.

My only experience with learning languages was high school and up. How to teach to young children was not at all clear to me! We all curled up together and watched and chanted along.

We liked it. :-)
