I was planning on using LC2 with my 6th grader and our local co-op was going to have a class offered (3 Fridays a month, so we would still be teaching at home-this would be a nice supplement to our lessons). But now I am leaning towards FF being better suited to our long term goals. I am wondering about any overlap with LC2 and if the co-op lessons will be of any use or just be confusing. Thanks.

Lisa,

There is some overlap between First Form and LCII, but I do think that it may be confusing for a child to be doing one program at home and another at school. That really depends on the child. I have one child who could handle that and another who couldn't.

I would like to send the Latin teacher at the coop a review copy of First Form to look at as an option. Do you think he/she would be interested in looking at it? If you would have the teacher call me, I will gladly provide a First Form copy for review and speak with him/her about the differences between the programs and the advantages of each.

I do think you are right in considering First Form to be a better option for your child if you are considering a long-term Latin commitment. But I also recognize the advantages to having a Latin class your child can attend. I hear from frustrated parents all the time who are trying to teach Latin unassisted. I wish more coops could provide this needed help.

Regards,

Tanya

Tanya- thank you for the info. I will pass it along to the latin teacher, but I'm afraid most of the other parents are already planning on using LC2. Most follow the Mother of Divine Grace syllabus which calls for LC2, and several of them already own it from older children.

I am still leaning towards FF, as co-op is only 3 Fridays a month at most, so most of the teaching burden will be with me.

Will the dvds be out fall, as I do find these essential!
