I'd like to find out more about the Roots of English program. How many lessons are in the book? Is the format like the Latina Christiana programs (a five-day lesson with exercises to do; quizzes at the end of each week; review lesson after every five lessons)? Is there an answer key in the book or a teacher's manual? (I haven't seen a teacher's manual listed.) Could it be used just two or three days a week? Is there any other information that would help me decide whether or not I should add it to my curriculum?

Hello.
There are 25 lessons in Roots of English. It shouldn't take too long to do 1 lesson/week if you added it to your curriculum. You could probably do the lesson in 1 day and the quiz the next. There is a quiz after each lesson and context quizzes after every few lessons. The answer key is in the back of the book.
The advantage to this program is that it makes the student look at the English language and begin thinking about words and their meanings based on their Latin or Greek roots. This book and the Book of Roots are both very good vocabulary classes for SAT preparation.
But, I will add that if you are doing a Latin program, you may not find it necessary to do a separate roots program. Latin will do for you what a roots program does, especially if your child sticks with Latin throughout high school. But many people choose to do both Latin and a roots study because they have children who love the study of language.
If you have further questions about Roots of English, I'd be glad to help you.

Tanya
