In LCII, unit test I, there is the following sentence to be translated: The people fear the Lord. The answer key states Populus dominum timet is the correct translation. Why is it not timent? Thank you!

"Populus" is a collective noun in Latin and is used with a singular verb, just as it is in English. We'd say "the populus is at peace," not "are at peace." HTH!
