Can someone please confirm that we are on the right track declining 3rd Declension (NEUTER) Accusative Singular nouns?

In Lesson XXI, on the DVD, Ms. Lowe says that 3rd Decl Sing (NEUTER) Nominative & Accusative "can be anything"...does that mean that the Accusative Singular will always match the Nominative Singular?

I.E. flumen (nom. sing.), flumen (acc. sing) this is the example noun listed in the Grammar Forms (Instructor's Guide p.96) does this apply to all neuter nouns? If so, it would be: ver (nom. sing.) ver (acc. sing.) and cor (nom. sing.) cor (acc. sing.) and iter (nom. sing.) iter (acc.sing.) and so on...

Is this correct? Thanks very much to anyone who can help!

When Mrs. Lowe says the endings for the nom. and acc. singular in neuter 3rd declension nouns "can be anything," she just means that there is no particular ending that is the same from word to word.

But what is consistent--and you are already on to this--is that, whatever the ending is, it is always the same in the nom. and acc. singular for a particular word.

Let us know if that doesn't help.

Thanks for your help! My son actually "got it" before my daughter and I did...I think we just needed a little reassurance. We appreciate Memoria Press and Mrs. Lowe's cheerful demeanor and excellent teaching!

The rule holds for neuter nouns generally, regardless of declension, and in both the singular and the plural: the nominative and accusative forms will be the same. True for Greek as well! :)

Thanks for the extra thought! Later, we looked back at the 2nd Decl Neuter and picked up the pattern. We start Greek this Fall. So, it's a nice to have a little "heads up" with Neuter Nouns.
