I read the post about a grammar program to use with LC. I thought using Latin study made the need of a separate grammar program unnecessary. Is the grammar covered in LCI and II enough for my 4th and 6th graders, or should I be supplementing with additional work? Thank you!

It depends on your views about grammar. Those who use the Charlotte Mason approach, unschooling, Sonlight, etc. mostly teach grammar in context through dictation and as needed for writing. If this is your approach, you might find that the grammar instruction in LC was sufficient. On the other hand, if you are following a classical curriculum, you would be teaching grammar as a subject on its own, more systematically and thoroughly. Then you would want to do more grammar than is in LC. I used the first approach with my older ones, and found that they didn't really have a good grasp of English and found Latin quite difficult. With my younger ones, I'm using Rod and Staff English. Another thing to consider is that the grammar in LC is very basic. Most 6th and even 4th graders should know a lot more English grammar than LC provides. It doesn't cover usage, punctuation and capitalization, correct sentence structure, diagramming, and so forth. HTH!
