Why is it "Adeste" for Come then "Venite" for Come in the next part of the song?

Nanci,
Adeste is the imperative plural of adsum, adesse, adfui, which is means to attend, be present. Venite is the imperative plural of venio, venire, veni, ventum, which means to come. These are only slight differences in meaning but they really add to the richness of Adeste Fideles.

classical4mom,
Just wondering what your academic background is I was homeschooled K-12 (not classically, however). That's about it!
you know so much about Classical Education! Thanks for the compliment! Actually, most of my knowledge has to do with Latin. I really don't have any experience with the other elements of classical education--the knowledge I do have is gained from reading about it.
