We are about to learn the 1st Declension (a family) chant and wanted to know if Christian pronunciation would be different from the Classical for this chant?
a ("ah") ae (long i)
ae (long i) arum (ah rum)
ae (long i) is ("ee" s)
am (ah m) as (ah s)
a (ah) is ("ee" s)

How do you pronounce caelum and saepe? In classical 'ae' is the long I sound and c is always hard c.

akmommyus2000,

We are about to learn the 1st Declension (a family) chant and wanted to know if Christian pronunciation would be different from the Classical for this chant? Yes.

How do you pronounce caelum and saepe? Which program are you using? There should be a Christian and/or classical pronunciation guide somewhere in it.

In classical 'ae' is the long I sound and c is always hard c. In Christian Latin ae is pronounced the same as the Latin e. When it comes before e, i, y, ae, or oe, c is pronounced the same as ch in church.
