Latin pronunciation question

My kids just finished Prima Latina and are starting Latina Christiana. The DVDs and the CD have the V pronounced as V....a friend who studied Latin said that the V should be pronounced with a W sound.
Has anyone heard of this before?

It's a difference between ecclesiastical and classical pronunciation. Memoria Press's programs use ecclesiastical; your friend must have learned classical. Here's a helpful article:
