The Henle Latin I Unit I,II study guide states the following:

Grammar rule #35: Predicate adjective case: nominative

This contradicts the text which reads:

p.76: "The rule of agreement is the SAME for attributive and predicate adjectives."

p.73: "RULE: ADJECTIVES AGREE WITH THEIR NOUNS IN GENDER, NUMBER, AND CASE."

Please advise

Nancy,

p.76: "The rule of agreement is the SAME for attributive and predicate adjectives."

p.73: "RULE: ADJECTIVES AGREE WITH THEIR NOUNS IN GENDER, NUMBER, AND CASE."This is absolutely correct!

Grammar rule #35: Predicate adjective case: nominativeThe subject of a finite verb is put in the nominative case; therefore, its predicate adjective would be in the nominative case. And so grammar rule #35 is still correct.

However, as you will learn toward the end of Henle I, the subject of an infinitive is put in the accusative case; in this case, a predicate adjective would be put in the accusative case. As you can see, grammar rule #35 will only be correct until you start learning about infinitives (later in Henle I). On the other hand, p. 76 and 73 of Henle I will always be correct.

Hope this helps,
Maria
