I am getting ready to start homeschooling my kids, a 4th grader and 9th grader. I plan on a 4-year history cycle, and I plan on using the Famous Men of Rome and D'Aulaires' Greek Myths in the first year.

Are these books suitable for my 9th grader as well as my 4th grader?

Also, how would you recommend I teach the pre-Greek/Roman history? I still want to fit in all of the Famous Men of Rome and D'Aulaires' Greek Myths in the first year.

Thanks,

Todd

Todd,

The Famous Men book will be a little on the easy side for your 9th grader, but that's okay, especially if you are doing it in one year with the D'Aulaires. The D'Aulaire's itself will seem elementary at first to him (or her), but only because of the pictures. The text is excellent no matter what grade level you are at.
