I will be using Prima Latina with my 3rd grader this year and would like some suggestions on how to break up the exercises over a 4 day week. I plan to use the DVD on the first day to introduce the lesson, but am not sure how many or which exercises should be done along with it or on subsequent days? I also have the pronunciation CD to incorporate.

My son is in 3rd grade and we are doing Prima Latina. We are on Lesson 6. We do one lesson per week. With the 25 lessons plus the 5 reviews it breaks down to a 30 week school year. On day one we do the DVD and follow along with the first couple pages in the workbook with no writing, on day 2 we fill in the first workbook page with the questions, day 3 the 2nd workbook page with questions, and day four review. On days 2, 3 and 4 we also do the pronunciation cd. It basically recites the weekly words so it only takes a few minutes. Also, there are some weeks where I break up the 2 workbook pages with writing into 3 days. For instance, the write and learn section has them write the words twice. This is a lot of writing for my ds so I sometimes have him write the words once and then do them a second time on day 4.

Prima Latina is a great program and I am amazed at how my ds has picked it up. I also use the flashcards and they are a great help. If there are a couple words he's struggling with, I periodically quiz him with the flashcards at the end of the day, or jump in between subjects and ask him, "what does that word mean again?"

Hope this helps.
