I made the oblique CAMESTRES syllogism:
Dick is a smart man.
Joe is not the son of a smart man.
Therefore, Joe is not the son of Dick.
I reduced it to first figure CELARENT and came out with:
A smart man is not the father of Joe.
Dick is a smart man.
Therefore, Dick is not the father of Joe.
Is it no longer oblique because the middle term no longer has anything to do with the transitive relationship? Did I goof up?
