Schedule for Latina Christiana?

We will start Latina Christiana 1 in 2wks with our 9th grader. I was
wondering if anyone had a schedule for this?

Also, I have been reading that LC1 is for younger students, since
this will be new to us, I figured that it would be easier to start
at the beginning. Is there a way to get through both(LC1 and LC2) in
a year? And if so, does anyone have a schedule they wouldnt mind
sharing with us?!?

Also, I was thinking of getting Rummy Roots and I have English from
the Roots Up. Is this good to combine with other Latin materials?

I will also start my two younger children (8 and 6)in Prima Latina,
will any of the combination be confusing for them?

A normal pace through LC 1 is probably a lesson a week; with a 9th grader,
you will be able to move more quickly. I moved my dd through LC 1 in three
weeks, but that's probably too fast if Latin is new to both of you.
Honestly, I wouldn't schedule it; I'd just shoot for two lessons a week and
see how it goes. I have found LC to be very easy to use and not to require
formal planning or scheduling at all. Drill the forms and vocabulary every
single day, and you'll have most of the work done.

Personally, I wouldn't bother, because your children will be getting the
roots in their Latin form, but Rummy Roots can be fun and will work in some
Greek roots as well. So--I'd only do it for fun and if your student is
really interested.

There will be a fair amount of overlap in the vocabulary between Prima
Latina and LC, and you can all memorize the Lord's Prayer, Table Blessing,
etc., together. I don't see any chance for confusion, and I see lots of
possibilities for fun.

There are a number of chapters that can be combined easily in LC1. Here's one possible schedule that I don't think would be particularly overwhelming for a 9th grader.

Week 1: Lessons 1-3, First Conjugation
Week 2: Lessons 4 and 15, irregular verbs Sum and Possum
(I know these lessons are far apart in the book, but Sum and Possum are closely related and the lessons go well together)
Week 3: Lessons 5-7, First Declension
Week 4: Lessons 8-10, Second Declension
--Insert a review week anywhere that it's necessary. Once you learn vocabulary, it should be reviewed at *least* weekly and any problem words should be practiced daily. Once you've covered a grammar concept, incorporate it into *daily* recitation.--
Week 5: Lessons 11 and 12, Second Declension Neuter
(a light week, good for reviewing)
Week 6: Lessons 13 and 14, Adjectives
Week 7: Lessons 16 and 17, Second Conjugation
Week 8: Lessons 18-20, Future Tense
Week 9: Lessons 21-23, Imperfect Tense
Week 10: Lessons 24 and 25, Personal Pronouns

I think the key would be doing Latin *daily* (at least five days a week, and preferably at least a quick grammar recitation on a sixth day). LC is very gentle, and I don't think this is an unreasonable schedule for a ninth grader. Flash cards will be a big help. We add new flashcards and cycle out old ones as they become automatic. Each week or so, pull out the "old" cards and go through the stack for review -- if any are missed, put them back in the daily rotation. Post a list of grammar concepts and keywords so that daily recitation consists only of glancing at the list and calling off the words.

Have your older child memorize the prayers along with your younger ones doing Prima Latina.

Not only do I think it's possible for a highschool student to do LC1 and 2 in a school year, I think a student could finish them in a semester and then move on to a highschool level program (like Henle).
